The Adventures of Joel and Isaac

Isaac- Our little guy

Now that Isaac has been with us for a little while now, we have started to see who he is a little bit. Troy and I have decided he's going to be an active boy. Whenever he is awake he MUST be doing something. Usually it involves mom or dad. And holding him isn't it. We must be walking around, preferably bouncing him. The swing is a good place to relax....as long as he's asleep. Isaac doesn't like to sit or lay in any one position for too long. He likes to be on the go. Those first few days where he only wanted to nurse when awake doesn't happen as often, but he still cluster feeds quite often. Nursing is the only way to calm him usually since that's really all he prefers to do right now...aside from all that bouncing. He does sleep pretty well though. All those cluster feeds are for a good cause. He tends to sleep around 3 hours at a time. Though when he's clustering he may go in and out of sleep for awhile before the big sleep. In his bassinet he sleeps best with the vibrator on...must be that bouncing motion again. Our batteries are charging so I hope that means he'll sit in his bouncy seat a little better than he has so far. I have tried slinging him up, which he likes, but not if he's being held still. Then it's off to crying and usually won't feel better until he's had a good taste of his mom's precious milk. Isaac has himself a pretty good temper at times. I didn't know one could get mad like that. Maybe his red hair is here to stay with his temper?? He doesn't cry too much when he wants to eat or burp. He grunts really loud. Though don't think he doesn't cry. He cries as much as any newborn baby will. Especially if you are changing his diaper or clothes or his big brother bothers him too much. He likes to be swaddled and tends to do real well inside the swaddle. But watch that temper of his when he decides his hands NEED to be free. Seeing how he was born with his hand under his chin, it's no wonder that he still likes them to be free now and again. Isaac prefers his mom to anybody else. Which doesn't suprise me really. I mean, I took care of him for 9 months and now am still his only source of food. Who wouldn't prefer that person?? He will quiet down just as soon as I start talking across the room or take him out of his dad's arms.

As we watched Joel from a baby and see his personality rise right from the beginning, we also are looking forward to seeing what personalities arise from Isaac since the day he was born (or before.)
