Colorado Vacation
Troy and I took the kids to Rocky Mountain National Park in June. It was wonderful there. We drove all night with sleeping kids. Hard on mommy and daddy, but much better for the little ones. Isaac didn't even wake up once in the 10 hour trip to nurse!! Yay Isaac! We went on the Georgetown Loop Railroad the day we arrived. We really enjoyed Georgetown. It's one of those small town tourist traps. But it's ok because it's really pretty there and the homes are old, so it's real vintage and fun. We didn't spend enough time there to see the shops...mainly the famous ice cream.
We drove the next day to Denver for church and from there we headed to our campsite, Jellystone Park. We rented a cabin there. Troy loved our site. Said it was the best one. We were high enough up and only one other cabin nearby. Rock climbing surrounding us. Open field beside us. Real pretty. It was a little dangerous though. The last night there Joel fell and split his skin above his lip. Taking him to the ER for 4 stitches was not the funnest thing. Thankfully, I stayed in the waiting room with Isaac and Troy was in the room with Joel.
We took several hikes around Rocky Mountain National Park. Some of our favorite hikes, though were the ones less travelled, outside of the park. We drove up the mountain our campsite was on and enjoyed a nice flat area while the kids slept. That is until Troy told me he thought there were mountain lions up there...based upon some deer remains. We also thought it might rain, and so we knew we had to leave because we were on a 4 wheel drive road with our minivan.. It didn't rain though.
I could post more about the trip, and a ton more pictures, but I'll just leave the link for you to see the photobook that I created. You have to download microsoft silverlight to view it.
